Women in the Light – Changing Perspectives

“Women in the Light” focuses on female portraits from 1900 up to the present day – and on the roles, projections and perspectives they reveal.
 

Paintings, photographs, drawings, sculptures and texts show not only how women were represented, but also how women artists have gradually questioned, reshaped and redefined these images. At the Palais Mamming Museum, this is a distinctive exhibition that combines art-historical depth with a clear link to the present.
 

From muse, model and a new perspective

“Women in the Light” develops this theme across seven chapters, showing how images of women shift between imposed roles, self-image and self-assertion. The visual framework carries this contrast throughout the exhibition, the communication materials and the accompanying book, which can be purchased at the museum. In this way, the theme resonates not only within the space, but also beyond it.
